The route through the old town of Yevpatoria begins at an ancient temple of Caraites. Till 1920 Yevpatoria was world’s centre of caraites. There only a few representatives of this folk left for the few thousands remaining. However, they have restored their temple – Kenasi. For example, there are two Caraite’s temples in Yevpatoria, they were built at the end of the XVIIth century. Kenasi was visited by Russian Imperators Alexandr I and Nikolai II. Today these temples are in working order.

Pitchings, winding roads, blank walls and gates, arches trailed by grapes (some grapes are more then 100 years old) – all these are signs of Kezlev. The streets will bring you to a sacred place of Kezlev. One the principal landmarks in the city is the Khan Mosque (also known as the Dzhuma-Dzhami, which means «Friday Mosque»). Unique majestic Dzhuma-Dzhami Mosque, designed in 1522 by the famous Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan, who also designed the monumental Süleymaniye Mosque in Istanbul, the Mehmed-paša Sokolovič (Mehmed-Pasha Sokolovic) bridge in Višegrad, Bosnia and many other structures throughout the Ottoman empire. Today Mosque is working. Snow-white minarets redoubles as echo over close streets, songful voice of mouedhin reechos with dings of Saint-Nikolai Cathedral, which is situated across the road. There are exursions on territory of Mosque. Here they will tell you, that all the khans who arrived from Turkey, at first went to Kezlev, where they were to subscribe special document – firman. Only after this procedure khan could go to his Bakhchisarai palace.
Yevpatoria can be very different, for some it is a tourists Mecca, for some it only would be a discovery, for some it is now a place to find health. It may be said without exaggeration that all diseases are lessened because of insolation, Black sea, Crimean therapeutic muds, mineral waters. There is a network of health resort institutions. In summer there are 64 working sanatoriums that collectively can hold 30,000 people. Recently there appeared many comfortable private mini-hotels.
