Every visit to the Sapun-Mauntain is a kind of journey into the world og the war history of Sevastopol, and the Diorama «Assault of Sapun-Mauntain on May 7, 1944″, which occupies the first floor of the semicircular building, is a bright artistic illustration of one of its heroic pages.
The best way to envisage the grand scale of the battles, which took place on the Sapun-Mountain, is to stand on the view spots. From the Balaclava Valley, which entered the world history yet in the period of the eastern (Crimean) War 1853- 1856, its surroundingg heights, as well as the Sapun-Mountain slope with well-preserved reinforced concrete pill-boxes, trenches, communication tunnels and an open air exhibition of the captured German equipment can be seen.
