The seasonal exhibitions in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden (Yalta):

1. Tulips exhibition in Crimea - spring long-term bulbous plants. About 140 kinds of tulips are growing on the planet now.  They usually grow in deserts, semideserts and dry steppes of Asia and Europe, from China up to Pyrenees’, and on the Mediterranean coast of Africa. The native land of the most beautiful wild-growing tulips is Central Asia.  Garden tulips were delivered to Europe from Turkey in 16^th century. The beauty of plants has subdued Europeans and especially Dutchs. In the Nikitsky Botanical Garden tulips are raised since time of its foundation. Since 1961г. this  Crimean Garden  has been working on their selection. Crimean tulips possess high decorative qualities, steady against adverse weather conditions on the south of Ukraine. The Crimean exhibition begins with last decade March and up to the middle of May, more than 150 grades of tulips replacing each other, begin to blossom.

2. Rosarium exhibition in Crimea -  Rose – Queen of flowers. The roses fascinate  the visitors of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden  in Yalta with  the beauty and the aroma not only in the spring and in the summer, but also in autumn. The collection of roses of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden in Crimea is one of the best in the East Europe. It estimates more than thousand grades, kinds and forms of roses from 30 garden groups among which there are roses – dwarfs in height up to 10 cm from group of tiny roses and roses – giants from group of  the plashing roses, 10 m rising on height, there are grades unitary blossoming only in May – June within 10-20 days and there are grades is long pleasing us flowering within 200 days, till the first snow on the Southern Coast of Crimea. The grades of roses which are included to the collection, are created in the best firms the USA, France, Germany, there are  roses  from Russia, Spain, Italy and Holland. Terms of the Crimean exhibition – the second decade of May and up to the end of December. Depending on weather conditions terms  of exibition can be shifted for 7-10 days.

3. Iris exhibition in Crimea The collection of irises in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden is performed by beaded irises. The exhibition of the irises: dwarfish, middle and tall, only 134 grades.Irises bearded – long-term grassy plants. They have received the name from Greeks who have named them in honour of the  rainbow Irida goddess. The extraordinary riches of painting, unpretentiousness and endurance of irises have made them one of the most popular cultures of an open ground. Terms of Crimean exhibition – the third decade of April, the end of May. (Depending on weather conditions terms  of exibition can be shifted for 7-10 days).

4. Clematis exhibition in Crimea Clematis – the long-term liane. This flower is successfully used in vertical gardening.  The length of lianes at the some clematises reaches 10 m, and bushes rise above the ground on 30 – 60 cm. The clematis are very fragrant flowers. Clematis received high estimations and awards at the international exhibitions and take leading positions in the market of clematises. Terms of Crimean exhibition – the second decade of May – the first decade of September. Depending on weather conditions terms  of exibition can be shifted for 7-10 days.

5. Lily hybrid exhibition in Crimea – is widely used for flower bouquets. In the Nikitsky Botanical Garden the lily hybrid exhibition is performed in July-August, in which 90 grades of lilies of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden – the National Centre of Science are submitted. Here representatives of all garden groups are collected: from dwarfish and small up to tall and «huge». At the exhibition there are various flowers: some resemble the stars, some like spiders, some of them have round form. Colors of lilies: all scale from white up to dark-claret (excluding only pure blue and dark blue tones). Terms of Crimean exhibition – the second decade of June, the third decade of August. Depending on weather conditions terms of exibition can be shifted for 7-10 days.

6. The Cannas exhibition in Crimea – you will enjoy 2 types of garden groups: Krozzi (dwarfs are about 50cm in height) and Orchids (giants are 2-3 meters in height). The color of flowers are not only monophonic – cream, pink, red, orange and yellow, but also with a contrast bordering,  multi-coloured dots, with marvellous, large leaves of the most tremendous colors: from different shades green up to bordo(dark red) – brownish tones, or even striped leaves. Terms of Crimean exhibition – the second decade of July – September.

7. The Chrysanthemums exhibition  in Crimea (from the middle of October till the middle of November, sometimes till the end of November, it depends on weather conditions in Crimea). This exhibition is the most popular by visitors.  Chrysanthemums are the reigning beauty of the park in autumn. There are also home varieties raised in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden.
